New Addition And Stunning Full Gut Out Home Renovation, South Boston, MA

Sometimes you will find a home in an excellent location, but there will be one issue– everything about this place needs to be changed. You have a lot of flexibility with what you can do to the interior of your fixer upper. A gut renovation removes everything but the ``bones`` of the house, allowing you to completely transform the floor plan and flow of your new home. We were so excited to work with our customer on this project and to deliver his dream home.

  • We started with a full gut out. We removed everything – all electrical wiring, old plumbing pipes, old finishes, existing interior walls, hardware, floors, door and windows.
  • The place was not big enough for our customer needs so we added extra square footage to the house with new addition. We excavated and poured new foundation on the back of the property. We constructed new walls and roof and we opened up existing exterior wall and linked the new and old space.
  • We installed new cement siding in a modern light color on the new addition walls.
  • We refinished the front old brick façade of the building with brand new stucco.
  • The original house did not have a basement, so we built a small underground area for a mechanical room with hidden door in the floor and marine stair. The new Navien water heater and mechanical equipment were placed there.
  • We reinforced all existing floors and exterior walls to create entirely open first floor area and to build new roof deck on the top of the building.
  • We framed new interior walls on the second floor for the layout: master bedroom with small closet and stunning master bathroom, guest bedroom with bathroom and office.
  • We installed new insulation in all exterior walls to minimize thermal bridging and reducing heat loss and soundproof insulation between the floors to slow the transmission of noise.
  • We covered all walls and ceilings with blue board and plastered them
  • We installed brand new electrical wiring, plumbing connections and HVAC system.
  • We installed new subfloors and oak hardwood flooring in natural color.
  • On the first floor we built two rooms, one for stackable washer and dryer and one for half bath.

  • After we completed all stages from the rough work we continued with one of our favorite parts – the finish work.
  • We installed beautiful oak doors with glossy, clear finish. We applied two coats of polyurethane to achieve this look.
  • We installed Prairie style windows with elegant, yet geometric look. Prairie style follows the design patterns and colors pioneered by famed American architect Frank Lloyd Wright.
  • Confident and progressive, the matt black finish of all windows and door hardware became defining design element– raising the mood and create bold, modern and sophisticated look.
  • Our customer loves to read so we crested a reading nook nested between the wall and the window with cute light fixture.
  • To naturally brighten the rooms on the second floor with sunlight we installed Velux skylights with a control motorized shades for more comfort.
  • Transom windows on the top of interior doors complement the home’s architectural style.
  • New stair with LED recessed lights leads to a gorgeous rooftop deck with access hatch.
  • We built a rooftop deck with private screen and access hatch that acts as a skylight, bringing in extra natural day light and keep sleek and streamlined look in the deck. Beautiful composite deck and soft illumination of AZEK post lighting allows you to enjoy this outdoor space in the night.
  • Both bathrooms on the second floor has radiant heat system with thermostat, Grohe plumbing fixtures, Robern recessed medicine cabinets and gorgeous marble tiles. The master bathroom features walk-in shower with built-in bench, integrated storage niches, massage jets, a rain-head shower.
  • The open and airy kitchen was finished with navy blue shaker door cabinets and trendy new countertop and stainless-steel appliances.
  • The final touch was the new exterior door with NEST ring bell.
